SESSION 1  (NEW Course # 84087)  (ONE HOUR)  9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
SUSAN E. VOSS; FORMER IOWA INSURANCE COMMISSIONEER: “THE OTHER MAJOR INSURANCE BILL” –
The objective of this class is to educate producers about regulatory issues at the state, federal, and international levels – specifically the Dodd-Frank Financial Services Reform Law. Attendees will explore where we are now, how it affects insurance producers, and where we are going in the foreseeable future. With all the attention given to the Affordable Care Act, it is unwise to focus all of our attention on the problems it has created – especially recently – and forget all else. The Federal Insurance Office (FIO) and the Federal Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) and their respective roles will also be reviewed.

SESSION 2  (NEW Course # 84086)  (TWO HOURS)  10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
ALTON W. (JEFF) JEFFUS, III, PERSONAL LINES SALES SPECIALIST, STATE AUTO INSURANCE COMPANIES: “I
DIDN’T KNOW THAT!!”–
Today, perhaps more than ever, insureds want and need to understand the coverage provided by their auto and homeowners policies. This session will focus on the homeowners policy.  Attendees will review the coverage provided, and point out some of the limitations of the typical
contract. Attendees will explore the importance of common policy coverages and examine the additional coverages – including umbrella coverage – that may be necessary to fully cover the risks involved.

SESSION 3  (Course # 82082)  (TWO HOURS)  1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
STEVE PARRISH, JD, CLU, CHFC, RHU; NATIONAL ADVANCED SOLUTIONS CONSULTANT, PRINCIPAL FINANCIAL GROUP: “LONGEVITY PLANNING: HAVING A PRODUCTIVE RETIREMENT WITHOUT OUTLIVING YOUR ASSETS” –
The purpose of this session is in part to discuss the financial challenges of transitioning from asset accumulation to retirement planning to estate planning.  In addition to financial issues, it will also focus on family and legacy planning.  The audience will explore how a number of factors, including the
uncertainty in investments, health insurance and tax laws, have combined to create a need for transition planning for all levels of retirees. The seminar includes ideas on ways advisors can help
consumers identify the issues, organize their plans, and monitor their success.

SESSION 4  (NEW Course # 84085)  (ONE HOUR)  3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
CINDY SCHMELL;
FRAUD BUREAU CHIEF, IOWA INSURANCE DIVISION:  “INSURANCE FRAUD AND MOTHER NATURE” –
The only other topic that is in the news as often as the Affordable Care Act is global warming and the unusual weather that happens as a result of it. Where there is bad weather, there are those individuals who want to capitalize on the victims of these natural disasters. This course will take a look at Mother Nature’s catastrophes and the fraud schemes that accompany them. Attendees will review what the Iowa Insurance Division is doing and some actual cases of this type of fraud.

SESSION 5  (NEW Course # 84088)  (ONE HOUR)  4:00 PM –   5:00 PM
DOUGLAS M. OMMEN, DEPUTY COMMISSIONER, IOWA INSURANCE DIVISION: “PRODUCER INVESTIGATIONS” –
This presentation will focus on the how the Iowa Insurance Division interacts with Iowa-licensed producers.  One obvious expectation is the professionalism exhibited by producers. Attendees will also explore the various aspects of public policy at it relates to producers and their business conduct. Finally, attendees will review procedures followed by the Division in their investigations and enforcement of insurance laws and regulations, in regard to both companies doing business in the state of Iowa and their licensed producers.
